How subscription trial works

What is the trial feature about?

The trial period feature allows you to offer potential customers free access to your content for a set time, giving them a preview of your offerings before they commit to a paid subscription.

When you enable a free trial on your subscription plan, you’ll need to specify the number of trial days. The trial period should align with your billing frequency: for weekly billing, the maximum trial period is 7 days; for monthly billing, it should not exceed 28 days. The minimum trial period is 1 day.

Here are five key benefits of adding a trial feature:

Attracts New Users: A free trial lowers the entry barrier, encouraging more users to explore your offerings without a financial commitment.

Builds User Trust: By allowing users to experience the product firsthand, a trial helps build trust and confidence in the quality and value of your content.

Increases Conversion Rates: Users who experience the value of your product during the trial are more likely to convert to paying subscribers.

Provides User Insights: A trial period lets you gather data on user engagement and preferences, helping refine your product and marketing strategies.

Reduces Churn: Trial users who convert to paid plans tend to be more committed and informed, often leading to better long-term retention rates.

Adding a trial feature can be a powerful tool to enhance user acquisition and improve overall business performance.

What happens when a customer purchases a subscription with trial enabled?

When a customer purchases a subscription with a trial period:

They will receive a trial welcome email instead of the standard welcome email.
Immediate access is granted to all courses included in the subscription.
They can cancel the subscription anytime during the trial period.
A trial end notification email will be sent 1 day before the trial expires.
After the trial ends, cancellation will only be possible once the first payment has been made in the initial billing cycle.
If they cancel before the trial ends, course access will be revoked for that subscription.
